Conference & Island Tour

Key West, Florida

November 12th-18th, 2021

Key West, Florida is the southernmost island in the Florida Keys archipelago. This seven square mile key is closer to Cuba than it is to Miami and holds deep historical roots from Native American history to ascertaining independence from the United States. Also known as the Conch Republic by locals, Key West is a culturally unique island with Caribbean flare, gourmet restaurants, eclectic bars, and the occasional wandering rooster.

Opal Key Resort & Marina

Opal Key Resort & Marina

While in Key West, the group will stay at the Opal Key Resort & Marina. This waterfront hotel is in a convenient location on the island in the Old Town neighborhood, next to the famed Mallory Square. Every night, locals and tourists alike gather at Mallory Square for the nightly Sunset Celebration. Here you'll find entertainers, musicians, local crafts for sale, and bar carts.

In addition to being conveniently located next to Mallory Square, the Opal Key Resort and Marina is just one block from Duval Street. Almost everything is located within walking distance making a car rental unnecessary during your stay. Other great amenities include a pool, bar and grill, an in-house restaurant, plush bedding, spacious rooms, and wireless internet.

The Island Tour

November 15th-19th, 2021

After the conference, an exciting island tour awaits! For the next four days you will be introduced to the beauty of Key West and the history that made it what it is today. The following itinerary is included in package pricing for each guest. Private dinners have been arranged but are not included in the pricing.

Day 1: Monday, November 15th, 2021

19.jpg

The first full day of your tour will start at a quaint restaurant located just two blocks from the Opal Key Resort, directly on Duval Street. Your group will enjoy brunch on the second floor of the historic home which was converted to a restaurant. The second floor is an open air dining experience which will be exclusively reserved for you! ($$)

After brunch, you'll head over to Truman's Little White House, Florida's only presidential museum. Learn about the presidents who occupied the home and the important decisions that were made here. Explore the grounds, take a tour, or explore on your own.

27.jpg

After you're finished touring The Little White House, a private Old Town Trolley will pick you up and transport you around town and to your next stop, Fort Zachary Taylor.

DSC_5045.jpg

First you'll have the opportunity to self-tour the fort. Park representatives are available to talk about the history of the site. After this, you'll have the remainder of the afternoon to yourself to enjoy the beach at the state park or venture back into town on the trolley.

Day 2: Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

15.jpg

You'll begin day two at a local favorite for breakfast, Blue Heaven. This open-air restaurant is perfect for grabbing a bite before starting the day. Blue Heaven is only a ten minute walk from the Opal Key Resort & Marina. I highly recommend the homemade pineapple pancakes, the mimosas, or even a slice of key lime pie! ($$)

After a delicious breakfast, you'll head over to one of the most iconic houses in Key West, the Hemingway Home. This historic property has plenty of stories to tell of the famed author, Ernest Hemingway. A private tour has been arranged for the group to tour the property. After the tour there will be time to visit the gift shop of one or the many polydactyl cats that are descendants of Hemingway's pets.

17.jpg

Next, you'll head to the Key West Lighthouse and Keepers Quarters to explore the museum and grounds. Today's lighthouse opened in 1848 with a woman as its keeper. Climb the 88 steps to the top of the lighthouse for a perfect view of the quaint city of Key West. Learn about the families who called the grounds home and their way of life.

18.jpg

The remainder of the afternoon will be spent adventuring on your own. Visit the Southernmost Point, the Key West Butterfly Conservatory, do some shopping, or head back to your room for a dip in the pool.

A list of recommendations for sights to see, favorite restaurants, and local happy hour times will be provided to each booking client.

22.jpg

OPTIONAL EXCURSION: Enjoy the sunset from the water as you cruise aboard a classic schooner. As you stand on the deck of the tall ship, pass by sights such as Mallory Square with its Sunset Celebration and the Navy Mole, where big ships dock. Hors d'oeuvres are included onboard.  (Additional $90 per person)

Day 3: Wednesday, November 17th, 2021

The final full day of the tour will be spent on your own. These three optional excursions have been selected to add on to your tour. If there is an experience not listed herein that you would like to see/do while in the Keys, let Bea know and we can arrange for this! Today can also be used for your leisure to relax or venture on your own time.

21.jpg

OPTIONAL EXCURSION: Escape to the secluded islands and tropical beaches off the coast of Key West on this guided adventure to historic Dry Tortugas National Park. History buffs and outdoor enthusiasts alike will love this unique voyage. Choose to get here on board the Yankee Freedom III, a luxurious, state-of-the-art catamaran, or via helicopter. (Additional $200 per person by catamaran or $381 per person by helicopter)

23.jpg

OPTIONAL EXCURSION: Charter a fishing boat to enjoy some of the world's greatest fishing. From tarpon to sharks, there is plenty to see, and catch, in the Florida Keys. (Additional $850 for a six person boat for four hours)

24.jpg

OPTIONAL EXCURSION: Enjoy a day of fun in the sun on the Island kayaking adventure off the coast of Key West. Sail away from the island city of Key West to the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico on a large catamaran. Hop in a kayak and enjoy a paddle around a natural stand of mangrove. Look for dolphins, sea turtles, manatees and more on this full-day adventure. A full breakfast and buffet lunch, plus beer, wine, soft drinks and homemade sangria are included. (Additional $130 per person)

25.jpg

The final day will end with a farewell dinner at A & B Lobster House, overlooking the marina as the sun sets. Your group has a reserved area on the second floor of the open-air building. This restaurant serves up delicious steaks, seafood, and cocktails, making it perfect for saying, "until next time," to your travel companions and the Florida Keys.
